Stranger Things advert:

Lighting- It’s kind of dark and there’s not a lot of lighting outside or in the house. At the start of the scene the lights were flickering.

Make up & hair- The actors in the scene are dressed like it’s the 1980’s and have hairstyles from back then. The way that they dress can help hint is what time period there from.
Setting- The setting was set in many different places such as the boys house, outside (down the road) and even the woods/forest.

DENOTATION:
In the IT film poster your able to see a little boy in a yellow rain coat facing towards a clown holding a balloon. The clown is hidden in the dark and your not really able to see him/her properly.
CONNOTATION: The clown in the background is partly hidden in the darkness, this may signify that he/she is a villain (bad person) in the film and is up to no good. The darkness and the brightly coloured clown can help us understand that the movie is horror.

Media Denotation & Connotation

DENOTATION: In this Water Aid poster advert you are able to see an girl and she looks a bit upset, the writing besides her says "Dig toilets Not graves". Behind her your able to see slight images of houses that look like they could be made out of mud.

CONNOTATION: The writing that says "Dig toilets Not graves" is put bold and has little holes through it this could suggest that the life she lives is hard, this is because the holes in the writing could symbolise the risks the children have of dying from illnesses.
